Reviews

Reviews of kit I’ve cooked on myself. Every Tested-by-Ben review here starts from a cook — not a spec-sheet summary, not an unboxing, not a list compiled by someone who hasn’t lit a fire. The kettles and kamados on this page were cooked on for months before a verdict went live, and the reviews say where the kit tops out as well as where it earns the money.

A verdict here means months, not a weekend. The Big Green Egg Large had five months and twenty cooks behind it before I put a score on it; the Master-Touch has had twenty years. It is slower than most review sites, and it is what lets me tell you where the kit tops out rather than how it felt out of the box.

What that covers today: a £38 leave-in thermometer, a £230 charcoal kettle and a £1,495 ceramic kamado. Three very different amounts of money, and each review says what the kit does well and where it stops.
